About Me

Thanks for visiting! I'm Rev. Emily M. Brown.  I'm the Associate Pastor of  Broadway United Church of Christ on the Upper West Side of Manhattan; I am spouse to my wonderful husband Bailes, mom to sweet baby Abel, stepmom to my thoughtful ten-year-old stepson. I'm a graduate of Harvard University (undergrad) and Union Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and was ordained in October 2012.

I'm also a Buffy fan, introvert, preacher, New Yorker, runner, and feminist.  I'm passionate about the Good News, almond croissants, and young adult dystopian novels. I make excellent meatballs.

  1. Hello Emily, I loved your post on expansive, inclusive language. This is my feminist concern as well. We did all this in the 70s I thought but... I am an Episcopal priest and blog at spirituallemons.blogspot.com. I'm also am author of two books of midrashim. Keep on lobbying for full parity. Thanks and good grace to you.

    1. Hi Cameron, I'd be happy to get in touch. I'm not able to see your email address on your profile, though, so I'm not sure how to reach you.
